And French Prelims are finally over 8D Hallelujah. Not that it means much, but still. As in, we still have such a long way to go... Sigh ):

#844 time to put my life back together right now
Thursday, 30 August 2012

Final lap of French prelims tomorrow... gosh I can't wait for it to be over. Then once I get home, I'll slack the rest of my night off... (: And maybe a little bit of Saturday too.

Farewell was honestly, the best out of all 4 years. I'll really miss everyone ):

Pictures tomorrow, bed now.

Wednesday, 29 August 2012

Farewell tomorrow, don't know how to feel.

I realise tomorrow will pass really quickly... With lessons like PE and Assembly, and how we're probably gonna do like Origami Geometry for Math... And then, farewell.

Oral on Tuesday was -dies- I got M. Chan as my examiner O.O it was... traumatising. The reading passage was okay (he said "tres bien"), but the convo was completely screwed. For one, he didn't tell me the topic we were gonna discuss and jumped straight into the first question instead, so I got like the shock of my life. And I was sitting there, trying not reel from the shock, and he was waiting for my answer. Apparently I'd given him a rather blank look because he repeated the question = NOT GOOD. Don't even begin about my answers and how grammatically-screwed/ ridiculous/ repeated/ amateurish they were.

Compo today was... not that bad (: Apart from how I now realise that roller blading is not "faire du roller"... I finished the first compo in 10 minutes OOO: idk how I did it, but when I looked up at the clock, I was just like whoa OOOOO: In total, I took 45 minutes for both first drafts. And the scary part is, both of the initial drafts had exactly 138 words each O-O And I didn't count the number of words before that, mind you. Oh, oh, oh!! Plus I ended with a pun for the first compo 8D reaaaaaaaaaally hope the examiner gets it :D

Still boggled with the entire H1-H2-don't take question :/

#841 and I just can't keep living this way, so starting today, I'm breaking out of this cage

God, the universe is so amazing.

I remember the nights during the boarding school stay of musical period, when Jolene and I would walk out to the basketball court after bathing and stare at the skies above while munching on biscuits sponsored by the Fong Company.

Naturally, I always kept remembering that most amazing night in France, when we were on the way back to Bordeaux from Biarritz. The coach had stopped for a break, and it was literally in the middle of nowhere. No buildings, no artificial lights, just a large patch of barren land for vehicles to stop for awhile after a long journey. And because there were no lights at all, the sky was speckled with stars. Okay not speckled, but painted.

The stars were everywhere, and it was so... beautiful. For the lack of a better term. It was gorgeous, and I remember it until now. The cold drafts of air were biting into my cheeks, but it was utterly blissful after a long journey of being cramped up in a coach. We could even spot the different constellations (the Orion belt and Cassiopeia, for example, since they were two of the more noticeable ones).

It's probably something I'll never encounter ever again. Singapore is so small, and nearly every single corner of the island has already been developed with buildings. There is artificial light everywhere, and there are few places left that are untouched by such synthetic brightness.

That experience in France made me realise how much of a pity it was. In our quest for brightening up every single place with a modern fluorescent light, we have chased away the darkness, and its beauty along with it. Where in Singapore can we find such a place where, upon looking up, we will see an unblemished paranoma of the inky black night sky in all its glorious beauty?

Naturally, that night in France, we tried to take pictures of the sky. And of course, it failed, most probably since we were using your everyday digital cameras, and also our handphones. I have always believed that the best camera anyone can ever have is our own pair of eyes. Then again, there are all those fancy and huge cameras that the real pros own, that can zoom in on stars and meteor belts and whatnot. But no picture taken by any camera would have been able to match that feeling I encountered that night. I may see a 13874832319427 megapixel picture of a starry night, but even so, it will just be a picture. I will not know how the caress of the cold breeze feels on my skin when I stare up at the sky in muted silence. I will not know that overwhelming feeling of my heart just bursting in me in pure enrapturement. I will not know the taste of excitement on my tongue of having lived in that moment. I will not know the feeling of longing whenever I think back to that magical night.

Times like this, I wish that we can take a picture by just blinking, and that image will be stored in the same beautiful way as we saw it. But maybe, that is the beauty of moments like this. Because it cannot be relived, and not even the best camera can match up to it, which forces us to treasure it, to live in it.

Back to those nights in the boarding school, they were great, but of course, a far cry from that unforgettable one in France. We (Jolene and I) were trying to differentiate the stars from the satellites, which is pretty much what everyone does when they look up to the skies. It was more challenging than I thought, because nearly every single bright spot was blinking. And some of them were even moving, so we thought they were airplanes.

Basically, to cut a long story short, that was a puzzling night. We were staring up at the sky for so long that pretty soon, nearly every single bright spot was moving. Of course, we later realised that the clouds were the ones that were moving, so it made the stars/satellites/airplane lights/UFO lights look like they were moving.

Anyway, I have always pondered about the whole concept of the universe. Some people question the possibility of extraterrestrial life. To me, I think it's a definite thing. We don't even know how large the entire universe is, so surely Earth must not be the only planet with life?

And then there's the universe. How big is it truly? Does it end or does it go on forever? What does it look like outside the universe, if there is even such a thing? What do the boundaries look like? Is it a mass of black with colourful dots of a million different solar systems, and that mass of black is in the centre of a white plain? If we base everything on the Big Bang Theory, what did the Before universe (since there probably wasn't a universe before the BBT?) look like? What are the dimensions like in the universe? Is there a ceiling? A floor? A left and a right and an up and a down? What is it like to get sucked into a black hole? Will we keep falling and falling and falling? How will we die in a black hole? Of starvation? Asphyxiation?

So many questions, so many thoughts. I wonder when they can be answered? A part of me wishes they never will be. For one, it keeps people guessing. It makes it even more mysterious that way, and that is the beauty of it. Second, I'm still hoping for the extinction of the human race, really. Everything on Earth (or at least most of it), and Earth included will prosper so much more without us.

Don't get me started on my Why Humans Should Be Wiped Off The Face Of Earth rant.

This is waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too freaking cool.

The other day, Mrs Wong was briefly covering Evolution during Bio, and I was sitting at my corner, zihighing the whole time.

Especially when she got to the part on pentadactyl limbs.

O M F G

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG :DDDDDDDDDDDD -elation- remember my post on the wolf leg + human arm?? :D

So excited ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

The best part is I don't even know why I'm excited.

Oh man please let me study Evolution and Evolutionary Linguistics in the future, somehow, one way or another. These two topics are too important to me to pass up.

I hate that feeling of disappointment you just can't seem to shake off, in particular when you're disappointed with the people you love. It's that kind of I like you guys, but... feeling. And it's really... upsetting. It makes me question Do you really mean what you say?

I forgot which night's dinner this was .__. I think it was Saturday/Sunday night, at The Little Fish Shop at Nex. It's truffle and mushroom sauce!! 8DD not bad actually.

Shi Ting -.-

Thank you Megan. Don't mention it.

And..... Sunday's dinner!!! :DDDDDDD It was totally awesome.  Carbonara penne...

With a hugeass plate of fish and chips, with mofo chunks of fish OOOOOOOOOOOOO: Plus the slices of beef and mutton and pork and whatnot from Dad and Mom... Best dinner in a really long time (Y)

Well obviously I didn't eat all of the penne and the fish and chips. They were shared between Han Wei and me, since both of us couldn't decide between the same two dishes (:

I found my old cue cards .___________.

Monday, Dad bought the wrong Starbucks drink :P This one's some shaker lemon thing (it was really lemony) instead of hibiscus.

Okay fine Dad didn't buy the wrong one. He said "hibiscus" but we ended up with the shaker lemon.

But why is it pink?! It's lemon!

YAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy with this batch of books 8DDDDDDDDDDDDD even though I have so many quizzes and tests and prelims and whatnot coming up, but I'm just like -flips hair- que sera sera. I actually wanted 4 more books but the loan quota has been reduced to 6...?! I think it was like 10 during the holidays T-T

Today, we started on floorball during PE. I was a little sad to leave soccer behind at first, but floorball isn't that bad!! Especially since we get to run around with sticks which are like arm extensions, so I had a pretty fun time this morning, contorting myself into weird positions, trying to use the stick to hit the ball somewhere. And the stick can be a wooden horse. And a broom. And a dubbing sword. Among many other things.

But I still perspired a lot because apparently, I was running like everywhere. I didn't realise until they game ended .___. Our team (go red!) only had like 4 players, and Zhi Xuan and I were doing all the running and hopping while Wyin and Jia Ling were like chilling at the goal.

So yeah, I probably resembled like a hyperactive chipmunk on coffee break. Rachel was laughing at me ):

The musical and I, let's just say we share a love-hate relationship.

This shall be a short and not-soppy post. Maybe that will come tomorrow. Or never ever ever.

One of the best songs. The other is the acid scene 8D

This is one badass song. Also called We Are Young, but honestly, I think it's better than the more famous version.

#837 I'ma be what I set out to be, without a doubt undoubtedly
Friday, 10 August 2012

It feels as if it has been eons since I last posted. Have I been doing much lately? No, not really. Unless you consider going through books like the way a T-rex devours its meal. I realise I'm a huge nerd. I don't go for outings very often (geez, when was the last time I actually shopped?), and most of them time, you'll either find me scrolling through Tumblr, watching a show on my laptop, or reading a book. I'm pretty much lifeless.

Today, I hopped between 2 libraries, took 4 MRT trains, 1 bus, made 4 library detectors beep, went to the Information Desk 2 times, and reached my loan quota. And I still wanted to borrow 3 more books. I tried using my EZ-link card after my library card had reached its limit, but turns out that they linked my library card to my EZ-link card, so I couldn't borrow anything else ): I like the Central Library. Their fiction collection is giganormous. They even have a few shelves right at the back, dedicated to the "Youth Fiction", from which 98% of the books I've borrowed in the last couple of years come from.

The Serangoon Library frustrates me. I mean, they have the books that I want, but the thing is, the books are like the 2nd or 3rd of the series itself, and I do not start from the 2nd or 3rd book of a series. I start from the first (duh). Which really frustrates me, because they have the series that I want, but not the first book.

So today, in a huff, I went all the way to Bugis. And then I got lost. So I found myself circling around Bugis Junction, both inside and outside, probably looking like a total moron, and inhaling much more cigarette smoke than necessary. In the end, I placed my life on the Maps app (which I scarcely frequent) in my phone. And I ended up taking a bus. One stop. I felt like a giant ass, especially when I realised that I got lost because I took the wrong turn at the beginning, and all I had to do was to cross one tiny little road to get from Bugis Junction to the National Library.

But they didn't have anything by Amy Plum. Nothing! Goodness... They, however, had the full Hush Hush series (joy!!) which was forced to abandon since I had already reached my loan quota -.- One day... I hope they don't get stolen by someone else.

Then I happily made my way all the way back to nex. On the way back, I actually missed my tran (from Paya Lebar to Serangoon), just because I cleverly went down to the wrong platform. And, mind you, that wasn't the first time it happened. The very first time I went to the Paya Lebar Circle Line station, I also mixed the two platforms up, so I ended up at the wrong platform, and watched as the train I was supposed to take pulled away from the other, opposite platform. And that exact same thing happened to me today. Although I've already been to this station a babillion times. I felt like smacking myself in the head.

This picture is from waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy a long time ago, in the HCJC Chill Cafe place. They sell Starbucks!! The one in a bottle, but still.

Sigh.

Gosh I can't wait for December.

Oh. Hmm. Food for thought.

How many days has it been already?

Cool flickering torch thingy on the Firefox page.

SYF... (':

My first all-nighter rehearsal...

Colourful fruit juices!! ^^ Watermelon yo~~~

I caught a fly -smirks- -waggles eyebrows- -feels like a ninja-

Although I haven't gotten to watching Season 2 yet (sigh), I gave up waiting and finally got about to drawing Sherlock in The Reichenbach Fall!! :D I really love the entire abstract art idea... And I had a lot of fun with it. Finally putting my spare toothbrush and broken comb to good use...

Tada!! My new Tumblr dp (:

(Try identifying the toothbrush and comb marks)

You have no idea how traumatising it is to open a PPT from your French teacher, and the first thing that you see is "Hi Han". Especially if you name begins with "Han". Speaking of, the Starbucks lady who took my order today was called "Han Yu" .__.

Okay this is really a long time ago. I mean, I was still reading The Sherlockian. That is six books past my current one.

Saba fish for dinner!! ^^

Oh, my previous library trip.

The sad life of a colour pencil ): I can't even sharpen them anymore D: And I can't bear to use the 48 watercolour set that I got in Shanghai last November.

Janice's birthday letters 8D Sherlock's hair is a little short though... o.o

BEN & JERRY'S <3 p="p">
Unglam picture of Jolene eating ice cream.

I love this picture. Especially when you zoom in on Mignon's face.

Pei Fang and her birthday present, which made TYH go -.O when we walked across the first level of the Classroom Block (on purpose).

I looked like such a toot in Sec 1. Seriously. HOLYPEANUTS MY BADGE WAS CROOKED. And so freaking high up.

TOMS <3 :dd=":dd" br="br">

In your face.

I love fried mantous. Just so you know.

Raw intestines for Dad's birthday dinner...

Okay, it's really chicken in red wine or something like that. But the sauce was really gloppy, and it kind of tasted like blood. Han Wei agrees.

This year's Carnival coupon was so chio <3 p="p">
I feel clever.

Fat cat -.-

Sometimes, I wonder if I'm the only sane person left in the world.

Very Berry Hibiscus <3 p="p">
I'm really gonna miss everyone when we step down... It wasn't like this all the previous years. For the past 3 years, the Sec 4s just left and I was like... Meh. But somehow this year, we all seemed so much closer... Sigh.

-snores-

Waiting for the finale...

Dear Shi Ting.

Because nothign screams messy like my brother's room.

Lol.

Catch of today!! ^^ And my Very Berry Hibiscus.

My toothbrush's hair just got cooler.

I'm actually jealous.

Even though it's more of a guy's hairstyle.
